Reji Woods Productions was born out of a desire to bring quality theme-driven cabaret experiences to the Lancaster County area.

How it Started…

It all started with a solo cabaret featuring Reji called, “Someone To Fall Back On”.  The cabaret themed around the celebration of relationships of all kinds took place at the Ware Center in Lancaster, PA on Friday, January 29, 2015, and featured local performers Michael Fisher and Julie Hart. The show was conceived and written by Reji Woods, directed by Dan Deal, music directed by Michael Truitt, and stage-managed by Audra Woods.

After the success of “Someone To Fall Back On”, Reji wanted to produce a summer concert that would feature the music of Billie Holiday, Celine Dion, and Whitney Houston and would honor three of the most important women in his life: Audra Woods (his wife), Lois Hill (his mother), and Lydia Martin (his mother-in-law).  Upon finding the Trust Performing Arts Center, Reji Woods Productions found a home, and the Portrait of a Lady Summer Cabaret Series was born. 

That summer, Reji Woods Productions produced a ten-week cabaret series celebrating the lives and music of some of the most influential recording artists in history.  Mariah Carey and Adele were added to the original line-up of Holiday, Dion, and Houston to round out the inaugural season. 

The first year was so successful that a second year was requested and featured the lives and music of Diana Ross, Taylor Swift, Gloria Estefan, Dolly Parton, and Aretha Franklin.  A third and final season was also requested at the Trust Performing Arts Center, and featured the lives and Music of Carole King, Christina Aguilera, Tina Turner, and Barbra Streisand.  The Portrait of a Lady Series became the quintessential program offering of Reji Woods Productions and is often requested to return to this day. 

On March 7, 2020 at the Ware Center, a one-night version of the series was presented to a sold-out audience and featured the lives and music of Billie Holiday, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, and for the very first time Karen Carpenter.  It was titled, Portrait of a Lady: The Diva Legacies. 

Throughout their three years at the Trust Performing Arts Center, Reji Woods Productions hired and featured over fifty-five vocalists (many of which performed in multiples cabarets), and a myriad of live musicians led by Reji Woods Productions Music Director, Michael Truitt.

Ongoing

Throughout the years, Reji Woods Productions have partnered with other organizations to create beautiful and entertaining cabaret experiences in the Lancaster area. With “Songs from the Silver Screen”, they partnered with the Ephrata Main to produce an Oscar-themed cabaret that included a simulcast of the Academy Awards.  With the “Night in the City” series, Reji Woods Productions partnered with Aussie and the Fox Restaurant and Lancaster Bible College to produce a dinner-show-after show experiences titled, New York New York, All About Love, Take Me Back to the 80’s, and the Motown Sound. 

In 2018 Reji Woods Productions joined into amazing ventures that continue annually.  They produce cabarets and entertainments for Willow Valley Communities and are the co-producers of the Miss Lancaster Scholarship Competition. In both these roles the production expertise of the organization are a benefit to the community.

The Future

Reji Woods Productions is excited to announce that we will officially be moving to producing full-length productions as a community theatre company.  We are so thrilled to give new and diverse performance opportunities to a progressive and diverse community.
